About Prisms

Caregiving is not gray...

unless we allow our hearts to let go of hope.

Caring for others is a privilege, a labor of love, and a marathon. It can feed our souls and strip us of all humanity-sometimes in the same day. It's a burden and a blessing, bound with the golden thread of love.

My name is Pam Thorson, and I'm a caregiver.

I'm also a wife, mom, sister, auntie, grandma, licensed practical nurse, author of four books, and writer of hundreds of devotions/articles. Like most caregivers, I have many threads to my life.

Why Prisms?

A prism is an object that breaks light into its many vibrant hues. Without it, the breathtaking colors of the spectrum would remain hidden. In the same way, our brokenness displays the multicolored facets of God's beauty, life, and grace.

In my two decades of caring for my disabled son, I've discovered that caregiving is not gray. It may be black with despair. At times it is cloaked in the royal colors of surrender. It often runs blood-red with sacrifice.

It is as white as the righteousness of the Savior who bought our freedom and as intense as our daily deliverance from self-destruction. Sometimes it is hot with tears; at other times, it rests in the coolness of living waters.

But it is never gray, unless we have allowed our hearts to let go of hope.

Prisms Caregiving is a place to celebrate all that makes up the crazy colors of caregiving. We'll share joys, sorrows, news, resources, and hopes for the future. Join us for fun and fellowship in the days ahead as we step out from the shadows together and into God's glorious light.
